Planckendael ZOO is divided into five continents and a trail runs through each continent. All five loops start and finish from a central point by the entrance; this way you won’t miss anything in the park. These create five exciting adventures full of surprising encounters. You can be sure that, as you meander through the greenery, you will find yourself regularly face to face with the animals.

Visit the Barbary macaques
Seven Barbary macaques took up residence in Africa. Barbary macaques originally live in the Atlas Mountains in North Africa, but these monkeys were rescued from an illegal breeding center. They enjoy themselves in their enclosure with various climbing trees. The Moroccan atmosphere that prevails make the monkeys feel at home.
Expedition bonobo
In Africa our bonobos have a brand new residence: Expedition Bonobo. It's a new paradise, five times bigger than before. The enclosure has seven locations for the animals to choose from, one outer island and three termite mounds. Watch them play, flea, climb, argue and make amends. Up close. The bonobos choose whether to sit together in a group or to isolate themselves, just like in nature.
